2012 Year In Review

A lot of really good stuff happened this year. I tend to take a lot of photographs [with my phone, which is alright: I'm hoping to later save up for something a bit more substantial (Canon Rebel, anyone?), but the phone does well for now], which helps me remember all the things I've done. Below, aided by photo collages, the events of my year are collected. In this year, 2012, I...

Visited bakeries and cooked legit dinners:

Bakeries include: Baked (NYC), Termini Brothers (Philadelphia) and Mirabelle's (Urbana, IL)

Baked, a lot (a lot more than is pictured):

Feast your eyes on a lot of butter and sugar, folks.

Walked campus, read books, savored Capogiro Gelato and went to the farmers market for the first time:

Capogiro Gelato is a top ranked gelateria located in Philadelphia.

Tried to be fashionable, went to coffee shops and did a cheese tasting:

"Tried" being the key word.

Remembered how much I love dogs, found old childhood pictures and discovered the best photo ever:

It's Blessed John Paul II with a Koala! Isn't that fantastic?!

Spent time with family and friends, played with Siri, was sorted into Ravenclaw (totes legit), began using Seignadou Soaps (made by nuns!), went rock climbing and helped paint a friend's apartment:

Get yourself some of this soap. It smells awesome. :)

Received a nickname, went to movies, won at Monopoly and made friends with a crazy cat:

I have a love-hate relationship with this cat. But mostly love. <3

Made new friends at my place of work:

BC4ever.

Spent time with my fantastic boyfriend (insert gushing here) :

:]

Made it official and joined RCIA and went to Mass a lot:

Why yes, that is a pipe cleaner monkey in the lower left. Thank you for noticing.

Learned about wine, started two blogs, went to Confession (!!!) and traveled a fair amount (but not enough):

I love that I have done all of these things.

There you have it! Of course I had a difficult time narrowing down my experiences and matching photos to them, but these show a great deal of my year with accuracy. My year revolved around food and Catholicism, for the most part, which seems fair: both are essential to my forthcoming life. I am thankful for all of the experiences I have had this year. I am thankful for all the learning I have done in the kitchen, all the people I have been able to meet and get to know, each moment spent in trains, planes and automobiles discovering more of this world, each opportunity to get to know myself better, every second spent talking to or merely being with my funny, charming and confident boyfriend, and especially for all of the Masses I have heard, RCIA meetings I have attended and quiet moments with the Rosary I have spent which have brought me further down my road to Catholicism and closer to the Father. It has been a very good year, but I expect even more from next year. Cheers to 2013!
